This paani buha meaning carrying water from the water resources and storing it inside house. This is a long tradition so people in ancient days did not had individual tube well and they used to bring water from public tube well or by any other public means. Village people of Odisha are desperately waiting for this festival to arrive. People from different social strata come together to enjoy in this festival.

The first day of this festival is known as "Pahili Raja", means first day of the festival. Second day of the festival is know as Raja Sankranti and last day is known as sesha Raja or last day of Raja.

  Main attraction:

This festival is though widely celebrated by all but it has some specific importance for girls. The main attraction of this festival is swing, usually created by using bamboo and wood. The swing is hanged by the help of rubber Tyre on the branch of tree. From the small, small children to old people all are very fond of playing the swing with singing a special song " Vanaste dakila Gaja, Barashake thare asichhi Raja, chala haba Saja Baja". Moreover, girls used to play theswing all the three days in rotation. People used to wear new dresses, various sweet dishes are prepared in the house. Chewing of pan is seen among those who never used to have it in other days. People are crazy for these three days to celebrate in various ways, some visit their relatives house, some visit nearby pilgrimage, some visit nearby hills, waterfalls etc. Odia people used to celebrate by playing chess, playing cards etc. They also arrange feasts with other friends by visiting the nearby tourist place. The tradition is their also to visit the married daughter or sister's house with "Raja Bhara" meaning visiting by carrying gifts like new dresses, sweets, fruits and many more such things. Odia people used to spend a lot of money in its celebration. You will find this festival celebrated across all the villages and cities of Odisha. However, the true celebration in original way can only be seen in the villages. The traditional way of celebration with all its ingredients are only seen in villages and specifically among village girls. Anyone who has no idea about this festival can identify this festival by seeing the swing hanging in the tree branch. It is unfair to say that city people don't celebrate but the celebration is somehow different. You will not find much swings hanging on the branches of trees at city but they used to play swing inside publicpark or own park.

Awaiting again:

Overall, this festival occupies a very special place in every odia's heart and mind. All are crazy in awaiting this festival to arrive. Further, this is the time where small small paddy plantlets are seen in the farmers field. Monsoon rain has just started and the warmth of summer is just fading away. The environment is full of greenery with lots of hope for the farmers in the villages. So, celebration of this festival is unique in many ways and a special festival for Odia people.
